I started this blog as a way to share my passion for food, healthy living, sustainability and all things green.

I grew up in a typical North American home, where Kraft Dinner was a regular on the meal rotation and bleach was used to clean everything. I had always cared about the environment in the sense that I recycled and turned the tap off when I brushed my teeth. When I started University and was living on my own for the first time, I began to realize that there was a lot more I could be doing to help the planet. I realized that simple decisions I made every day, what to eat, what clothes to buy, what cleaning products to use, really had the potential to make a difference.

For me, changing my lifestyle started with changing my diet. I believe our food choices are central to living sustainably. The food choices that we make multiple times every day add up to have a huge impact on our health and the planet. This has let me to adopt a whole foods plant based diet including as much local food as possible. For this reason, while this blog will be about all aspects of sustainable living, food will be a main focus.

Transitioning to a natural, sustainable lifestyle has been a slow, steady progression. I started off not knowing anything and it has been a constant learning progress. Navigating through labels and marketing when trying to make sustainable decisions can be very challenging. I’ve learned a lot over years of trial and error (I had to try about 8 different natural shampoos before I found one that didn’t leave my hair greasy) and it is my hope that this blog will be a place where I can share what I’ve learned with you. And a place where we can all share our experiences about natural, sustainable living and learn from each other.
