It is currently ridiculously early in the morning and I’m heading to the airport in less than an hour to go to Cuba. Yay!
I haven’t been there before so of course, I searched hotel reviews and forums to see how vegan friendly the food would be. I found really mixed results. Some said there was tons of vegan foods, others said they relied mostly on food that they brought. So I decided I better bring some food just in case. (Plus I don’t think I really travel anywhere without a good portion of my suitcase filled with food!)
- Three types of chocolate protein powder. Vega Whole Foods Optimizer, Vega Shake and Go Smoothie and Sun Warrior. I’ll let you know which one I liked best when I get back!
- Bars: Cliff Builder Bars, Chocolate chip Lara Bars and …
- peanut butter – it’s always easy to find vegan bread but it can be hard to find stuff to put on it
- Banana cranberry granola bars (recipe from Oh She Glows)
- hemp seeds – these are great to sprinkle on salads and dip bananas into (I just hope they don’t search my bag going into Cuba…)
- big bag of almonds
Full report on the vegan food situation in Cuba when I get back in a week!
